Happier New Year 2021!

Our team wishes you all the best for this year. Hopefully, it will be happier than the previous one, which should not be difficult given the challenges of 2020…

At Summit Climb we like to keep things positive and as the first month of 2021 is coming to an end, we are reflecting on the successful adventures that we managed to be part of last year. Here are some highlights:

Loneliness in Africa! In spite of the pandemic and its understandably negative impact on tourism, we could climb the “empty” Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru at the time when these regions were still safe. While respecting the sanitary rules, we managed to carry out our planned expeditions to Africa and enjoy these magical mountains even more. Scaling the famous Kilimanjaro in the conditions where merely other people are there is definitely unforgettable!

Extraordinary exploration in Shimshal, Pakistan! This remote and isolated Pakistani valley turned out to be our main playground in 2020. As numerous expeditions had to be canceled for obvious reasons related to the pandemic, we were looking for an alternative. As a result, our “flexible” climbers were given a great opportunity to explore and the first ascent a couple of peaks in the Shimshal valley, in the frame of adventurous expeditions that were organized very quickly. In the true spirit of pioneers, these expeditions were not risk-free.

Staff-training in Pakistan. We profited from our presence in Pakistan to carry out training of our Pakistani guides.  Refreshing and improving the technical skills of our local partners are of extreme importance to us.  Our somewhat empty traditional “high season” gave us the opportunity to gather and train together.

Training in the Alps. European lockdowns did not make it easy to travel across the EU but we managed to organize small expedition events in the Alps as planned.

Plenty of hope for 2021! We plan to carry out as many of our expeditions as planned, hoping that the worldwide situation improves as soon as possible. Thanks to our adventures last year, we have also prepared a new program in Shimshal: https://www.summitclimb.de/en/climb/shimshal
